Handsome Hank and his Lonesome Boys formed in 1997 as a bluegrass band. They played at bluegrass jamborees and festivals for a few years, but soon began to specialize on the countrification of well-known rock and pop classics. The response was very positive and even rock celebrities such as Slash, Lemmy Kilmister and Frank Farian patted the band’s head. Handsome Hank's first CD Greatest Hits (East/West, Warner Germany) is a classic in its own right and the cover version of Black Hole Sun had worldwide radio airplay. The song even played during halftime of soccer game with St. Pauli at Millertor stadium!

The band toured in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. The follow up album Live at Murmansk also brought much warm applause and most of the shows of the tour were sold out.

A handful of years later Handsome Hank released a solo album entitled “sings about devils and angels”. It was recorded in Zurich’s HitMill studio and had a nice airplay in Switzerland.

Now Handsome Hank has gathered a new bunch of Pistoleros around him. He’s got a spanking brand new album in his saddlebag called “Roll down the Line”. And it’s hot! A classic Country record with many flavours and styles. Mariachi and Country pop, Bluegrass and Honky Tonk and a Piano ballad, too!

Handsome Hank and his Lonesome Boys wurden 1997 gegründet. Die Band spielte traditionellen Bluegrass mit Banjo und Fiddle. Nach ein paar Jahren entschied sich die Band dazu, auf Bluegrass-Standards zu verzichten und fortan artfremde Songs «countryfiziert» wiederzugeben. Aus dem reichhaltigen Kanon der Rock'n'Roll-Geschichte wurden einige Perlen ausgesucht und zu Countrysongs umarrangiert. Es galt, den versteckten Kern eines Songs herauszuarbeiten und glaubwürdig in das Genre der Countrymusik überzuführen. 2003 wurde bei Warner Music Germany (east/west) ein Klassiker veröffentlicht: Das Album Greatest Hits, es vermochte Fans wie die Ärzte, Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister sowie Discoproduzent Frank Farian zu begeistern. Wenig später folgte die Weihnachts-EP «The White Album». In den anschliessenden Jahre waren Handsome Hank und seine Jungs mit ihrem Tonträger Live at Murmansk wieder auf Deutschland-Club-Tournee, die zu einem grossen Teil ausverkauft waren. Die Band geniesst mittlerweile einen fast legendären Ruf als Country-Pioniere, welche an der Etablierung der Countrymusic in der Rockszene, wie es heute sie gibt, einen wesentlichen Beitrag hatte. Im Jahre 2012 erscheint das Soloalbum „sings about devils and angels“, welches im Zürcher Hitmill Studio aufgenommen wurde. Darauf sind Duette von Hank mit Erikas Stucky, Endo Anaconda und Heidi Happy zu finden.

Seit 2013 hat Handsome Hank eine neue Truppe von Pistoleros um sich geschart: „Handsome Hank and his Band“. Und er hat ein neues Album in der Satteltasche: „Roll down the Line“ (Baldo Records). Räudiger Country und Rock’n’Roll, Honky Tonk und heisse Mariachisounds, aber auch zarte Countrypopballaden für die Damenwelt. Das Album wurde in Admiral James T.‘s Studio in Winterthur aufgenommen und produziert. Handsome Hank and his Band sind ab Frühling dieses Jahres in der Schweiz und ab Winter in Deutschland unterwegs.
